My body has decided it's done. I was healthy and happy my whole life until this 3rd pregnancy... did I mention earlier that they found a cyst on my kidney during one of my ultrasounds?
Now, when they told Dr. Wilde, he said it's probably not a big deal - cysts are on almost everyone's kidneys when they're old in age (start showing up in 50's)... anyway, he said we'll look at it after the pregnancy. I reminded him at my post-baby follow up and when he read the recommendation for a CT scan to analyze it, he said that was a little drastic and he didn't think we would need to do it. After he looked at the images, he ordered a CT scan with contrast (dye in my bloodstream) to get a better look.
It's probably not cancerous, but really? Really body? Gestational diabetes and preeclampsia weren't enough attention - I have to have a funky looking cyst. As I always do, I read up all I could on Kidney cysts. They break it down nicely into two categories, "simple cyst" or "complex cyst"... it's pretty easy to guess which type is likely to be cancerous. And to not be so dramatic, even if it's a complex cyst, it's broken down into several more complicated options that give different percentages on the liklihood of being a cancer. Nonetheless, if it's a simple cyst, the CT scan is the last I'll hear of it... if it's complex, I'll need to have another proceedure done and there are many different types they could do depending on the type it is... blah blah blah
I'm really nervous and frustrated. I hope it's nothing and I'll let you all know when I know. I can't nurse William for 24 hours following the CT scan, I didn't know that before so now I'm really frustrated. I have milk left from when he was in the NICU which I am now very grateful for.
Love you all!
